Christmas PUG! 12/17/09

November 24, 2009 by Kevin Swan

I’m looking into getting part of a restaurant set up for us. Either the Blue Martini, or the Fox-n-Hound. I’ll let you know, but plan on Thursday, the 17th, evening party!

11/13/09 UPDATE!! Meeting Friday 13th.

November 1, 2009 by Kevin Swan

Sorry, folks. Bob couldn’t make it. :(  But we have an amazing opportunity to hear from Gary Fong! This is a rare treat. Check out his many accomplishments here: http://www.garyfong.com/2.0/biography.html

He was one of the founders of Pictage, so this is a pretty sweet opportunity, even though it’s last minute!

Friday, November 13th

My house http://www.KevinSwan.com/map
7:30pm-9:30pm
Pictage will provide some eats.

10/28/09 WED: Meeting: A real live lawyer!

October 14, 2009 by Kevin Swan

Guest speaker: Kevin Koons, Attorney at Law : Kroger, Gardis & Regas, LLP

My house http://www.KevinSwan.com/map
11:30a – 1:30p
Pictage will provide lunch.

Kevin is my friend and lawyer (it is possible). He’s been a great help setting up my businesses and handling questions about small biz and the law. How many times can you ask a lawyer questions for free?! Should be a good session.

September Meeting: Software

September 17, 2009 by Kevin Swan

Sept 24th
6:30pm

Chad Franz’s killah pad
11650 Lantern Rd., Suite 137
Fishers, IN 46038

I couldn’t get the speaker I wanted lined up for this night, sorry about that. The good news, though, is that Bob Davis has graciously committed to October’s meeting on 10/15! You won’t want to miss that. I’ll tell you more about Bob later…

Let’s talk software next meeting… Not just editing, but anything that helps us get our workflow managed. Bring laptops, bring questions. I’ll show my full array of tools and how I use them, but I’m expecting some of you to bring your favorite solutions and share with the group.

Afterwards, a few of us usually head over to the Blue Martini for an after-PUG drink/snack. Hope some of you can make that!

Looking forward to hanging with you. PS: Check out the new slideshow stuff Pictage added, it’s pretty cool…

August Indy PUG

August 5, 2009 by Kevin Swan

Hey, PUG!

Good seeing you all last meeting. Thanks again to Janet.

Next meeting: August 27th / 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
Location: Swan House  (http://www.KevinSwan.com/map)
Lunch provided by Pictage!

Note: there’s construction on 334, if you’re planning on coming from 65. Might be better to take Michigan up from 465.

Guest Speaker!

And, I’m excited to announce our guest speaker for the next meeting. Some of you may remember Greg Goelzer, who has been to some of our early PUGs. He’s a great photographer, but he’s an even better financial planner/advisor. He runs Goelzer Investment Management, downtown. Last year, I brought my accountant in for some Q/A, and I think a lot of people got something out of it. So, this year, I thought I’d bring a financial guru in and let you pepper him with questions about your savings.

Should you have an IRA; a SEP IRA?
Should you be investing in the stock market at all now?
Is gold better?
How do you set this stuff up if your self employed?
What kind of fees should you pay for different funds?
How much of your income should you put away?
How does it affect your taxes?

I realize we’re a photography group, but we’re also a small business group! So, I’m hopeful this will be relevant to you guys, and I know Greg knows his stuff!

Extreme Home Makeover Photo Op

March 23, 2009 by Kevin Swan

Hey gang, Extreme Home Makeover is coming to Indy, next week! I wanted to pass along information concerning the photography volunteers they are wanting to round up. I know it’s during OSP, which I look forward to seeing many of you at, but they are asking for 4 hour time slots.

“The Estridge Companies is proud to lead the build team for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Indianapolis. Hundreds of volunteers will donate thousands of hours to do the unthinkable – build a home in one week. Together, we look forward to building something great for a family of heroes.

Join us as Estridge leads the Indianapolis build team for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Donate your time and talent and be a volunteer. Donate your resources to the family fund and help create a new beginning with the family’s new home. Or simply donate your enthusiasm and stop by the build to cheer on your Indianapolis team!”

The above from the Estridge website says it all…if you would like to donate your time as photographer for this event…please fill in a minimum of 4 hours and return to me by Monday and your hours will be confirmed by Wednesday or Thursday of this week…1st come 1st served! Overlapping hours are OK if need be to fit into your schedule…just let me know and we will make adjustments. Thank you in advance for helping create wonderful memories of this event!!! I am only concentrating on the actual 5 day construction period in this email…other photography times will be determined via another email.
Also, please respond in your return email with your complete information…personal name…business name6 and best phone contact.
Thanks again from one Volunteer to another Volunteer.
